Happy 1st of November, everyone! With Halloween now behind us, we were eager to dive straight into the Christmas spirit. This year, we decided to create our very first Gingerbread window display, and what an adventure it turned out to be! The Setup: A Sweet Challenge What began as a simple idea quickly evolved into a delightful whirlwind of creativity—and a bit of chaos. After four and a half hours of teamwork, we managed to craft a display bursting with whimsy, warmth, and the sweet aroma of gingerbread. We had grand visions of sugar-coated perfection, but let’s just say the journey had its fair share of ups and downs. The casualties? A few shattered ornaments, ripped tights (who knew crafting could be so perilous?), and one unfortunate angel who bravely lost her head from the top of the tree. She simply couldn’t handle the excitement! But in the end, everything came together in a way that was both charming and wonderfully imperfect. The Final Result: Festive Chaos Our window display has transformed into a feast for the eyes, filled with colourful sweets, frosted gingerbread, and all the joyful touches that make Christmas so magical. We embraced the playful spirit of the season, celebrating each quirky mishap along the way. After all, isn’t that what makes Christmas truly special? Come Visit Us! In September, my mum and I were selected as judges for the prestigious Spotlight Awards at Top Drawer in London. It was such an incredible honour to be part of the judging panel at one of our favourite trade shows. Top Drawer is known for showcasing the best in design and creativity, bringing together talented makers from across the industry. Being able to contribute to the selection of standout designers and products was a rewarding experience for both of us. We reviewed innovative entries that pushed the boundaries of creativity and celebrated the artistry that Top Drawer is known for. The Spotlight Awards celebrate originality, ingenuity, and thoughtful design - values we hold dear at Cornucopia. We were so inspired by the passion and creativity we encountered, and it was a privilege to be involved in recognizing the incredible talent that’s shaping the future of home and giftware. Last month, mum and I had the incredible privilege of being invited to Talking Tables' 25th anniversary meal in the heart of London. It was an evening filled with warmth, celebration, and reflection, honouring the remarkable journey of a company that has brought joy to so many homes and gatherings around the world. Founded in 1999 by Clare Harris, Talking Tables began as a humble venture with Clare packing party poppers at her kitchen table and delivering them to Harrods in her VW Golf. What started as a small, creative business has since evolved into a global success, providing fun, stylish, and imaginative products for all types of celebrations. The anniversary dinner was an intimate affair, where we gathered to reflect on the past 25 years and celebrate the future of Talking Tables. Clare and her partner, Mark McCormack, shared heartwarming stories about the brand’s early days, the challenges they faced, and the joys of growing a business that still maintains its original spirit of fun and creativity. As my mum and I sat among fellow guests, surrounded by beautifully designed tablescapes (of course!), it struck us how much Talking Tables has influenced modern entertaining. Their commitment to making every occasion special—whether it’s a birthday, Christmas, or just a get-together with friends—resonates with anyone who loves to bring people together. The evening was a beautiful reminder of the power of perseverance, passion, and creativity in building a lasting legacy.
